Continual Assessment 1 (#2): Section F

Read the passage below and answer the following questions.

The guests were gathered around the dining table when the police officers arrived. The half-eaten dishes lay cold on the table. Mrs Adam was shaking like a leaf as she sat huddled in a corner. She did not acknowledge the police officers and continued mumbling to herself as the hostess, Mrs Paddington, showed the officers to the bathroom where their friend, Mr Andrews, was lying.

According to Mrs Paddington, Mr Andrews was the last to arrive at the dinner party. He had asked to use the bathroom once he arrived but a moment later, the ladies had heard a loud crash. Mrs Adam and Mrs Peterson had rushed to the bathroom. Mrs Adam was the first to discover Mr Andrews. Blood was dripping down the sides of his face from a deep wound on his head.

Mr Andrews was a retired teacher who dropped in on Mr and Mrs Paddington whenever he was free. He was a wealthy man who had saved a large sum of money over the years and was now looking for a way to invest his money. He had consulted Mr Paddington several times about the best ways to invest his money.

The police questioned everyone at the dinner party to find out where everyone was and what they were doing when Mr Andrews was in the bathroom. Mrs Paddington was pouring drinks for everyone in the kitchen. Mrs Adams, Mrs Peterson, Mrs Jacobs and her daughter, Bella, were seated at the dining table.

After an hour of questioning, the officers examined the entire house. Crime scene investigation officers examined the bathroom and all evidence was bagged and brought back to the police station. Before leaving, the police officers informed Mr and Mrs Paddington that they would return to question them further if necessary.
